Kumitid
The life of Samson
•Samson's calling:
for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines."
Judges 13:5
-Samson was called to be a nazarite of God
--nazarite comes from Hebrew nazar: consecrated or separated
A nazarite is required to:
~Abstain from wine, wine vinegar, grapes, raisins, intoxicating liquors and vinegar distilled from such.
~Refrain from cutting the hair on one's head
~Avoid corpses and graves, even those of family members, and any structure which contains such
In other words, a nazarite knows the meaning of commitment and is a committed person.
But what made Samson from being a committed person to a kumitid individual?
Judges 14:1-4;7
I. When you do things based only on what is right your eyes.
-Samson did what was seems right in his eyes.v3
He let his eyes dictate his destiny. He went after what he saw. His eyes made him forget his purpose.
When we forget what God dictates, there is trouble.
That is why it is important to always ask God in prayer.
II. When you give in to self.
Judges 16:1
Samson did not talked all night with the prostitute.
Samson was called for a purpose but he gave way to self gratification.
The heart is deceitful above all things.
So how to prevent?
>the bible tells us that:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
(1peter 2:9)
I. Do not deny your identity
Always remember who you are.
Look at who you are.
You are more than a conqueror. A chosen race. A royal priest. A possession of God.
Romans 8:37
You are loved by God.
It is you and not what you do.
A love that never fades.
II. Always Be faithful
Look at your love for God.
2 corinthians 5:6-9
" So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him."
As in a relationship, faithful. My heart will belong to no one but God. My number 1 in my "make them smile" list.
Satisfaction comes when you find what you hope for.
So extreme satisfaction comes when you find what you extremely hope for. It is really me who dictates what satisfies me. It is in my choice.
And I choose to extremely hope in God. Hope in His ways and the things He will do and teach.
That way I can be extremely satisfied, that way I delight.
Delight unto God.
God is always looking at the quality of the heart.
III. Always remember what you are called for.
Look at your destiny.
Do not exchange your destiny for other things.
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
God prepared a further for you.
IV. Look at who loves you.
When you feel like giving up, remember the love God gave at the cross for you.
What He is willing to lay down for you.
Romans 8:31-39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died-more than that, who was raised-who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God loves you.
Samson ask forgiveness to God.
will you not?
Will you not commit to God?
Will you give up your commitment?
Think love!
